Metroporis was a contemporary cabaret show directed by Merimaija NĂ€ykki, which sailed between and investigated similarities and differences of the 1920s and the 2020s that had just begun. The show ran two autumn seasons at Rakastajat teatteri in Pori in 2020 and 2021. My role was the circus robot âSoleil 2.0â, which aligned with my interest in roles of non-living objects.
In the story, Soleil 2.0 is on the search for the essence of a cabaret act. While searching, it performs a handstand act with a circus bear on a tricycle and ends up nearly exploding. In the end, as the robot has acquired information on the cabaret, it performs its own, alluring yet robotic choreography with fishnets and lipstick.
